It takes a dozen

The tension was tangible. The silence was heavy, yet deafening. The twelve were decided. They marched in together, some timid, some resolute. Were they right? Could they be wrong? A life hung in the balance. Defender and accuser exchanged glances. Which was victor? Voice trembling, the judgment was read. Guilty.
